For this project, I have decided to create a site logo for my blog. Site logos are generally small, so I figured something simple but with a purpose would be the best way to go for this.
Design and Process
What influenced me to design this logo was the name I chose for my blog. I was thinking of doing outlines of clothes, or things associated with the word “closet” and “fashion”, and thought the most cleanest design would be a plain coat hanger. I also wanted to incorporate the blog name somewhere with the logo, so my plan was to make my name cursive and connect to both ends of the hanger part (but that didn’t work out too well as you can see). I also thought since everything else about the logo was rounded, having the word “closet” be a different font would help make it stand out. Overall, trying to create this logo on Illustrator turned out different than what I was going for (sketch).
Technical Detail
I used the gradient tool for the pink circle gradient in the background. I added it because after creating the logo, it looked a bit plain. But now that I look at it, I don’t really like it anymore and it seems a bit “cheesy”. I used the pen tool for the hook of the hanger, and shapes for the triangle hanger shape to create my logo.
After adding my rough draft logo to my blog as a site logo, I realized I should have made the background transparent. That is something I am willing to fix for my final draft. Here is an image below of what I mean:
For this graphic design project, I have decided to create an online graphic for my blog. I wanted this to be a very minimalist look, but also convey the message I was trying to get across to my audience – which was, “three ways to wear a blazer”.
The main topic of this message was sustainable fashion. The idea was to choose one piece of timeless clothing and to style it in three different ways. The clothing item I chose was a beige blazer. Purchasing timeless pieces can go long ways when you can style it in many different ways other than wearing it to a business meeting or a job interview. The purpose of this graphic design was to display outfits you can pair a blazer with to create different looks.
Design Process
What inspired me of this idea to create this graphic design was the “10 ways to (re)wear a dress” video by Ashley (aka “Best Dressed” on YouTube). She created a video showing 10 different ways you could wear a single dress. This inspired me to do the same with a beige blazer that I own. The purpose was to select a timeless and versatile piece that you can wear in many different styles.
The significance of the elements in my design was simplicity. I wanted to create something simple & clean, and that also followed the color & style of my blog. My first thought was to create something similar to a fashion magazine, but I wanted something simpler. Not because of laziness, but because I wanted to go for a minimalist look, but in a cute way. It lead me to think of fashion sketchbooks and bullet journals. So I thought, why not combine the two and make something like a page of a “fashion journal”! I’m not too sure if that’s a thing, but I wanted to create something in a style of a “journal”.

This is where I made revisions in swapping out the photos with edited ones to match my blog, and also using the brush tool and creating “tape” like lines on the photos. I did this by playing around with the opacity to get the transparent look of “tape”. I thought this would add more of a casual personal “journal” look. I also used the brush tool to create the drawing of my blazer to add in a “doodle”. I decided to keep the header and descriptions in a clean font in order to create a cleaner look overall.
I did take in the feedback given to me on my draft and tried out a cut-out, changing the warp on the text, and even adding in the word “beige” to the heading, but it didn’t seem to go so well. I did go through with one feedback said to me in person of making the blazer drawing into a “offset color”. I decided to try it out and liked it much better than what I had originally done in my draft.
For this project, I have decided to create an online graphic for my blog. This relates to the topic of sustainable fashion. The idea was to choose one piece of timeless clothing and to style it in three different ways. The clothing item I chose was a beige blazer. Purchasing timeless pieces can go long ways when you can style it in many different ways besides wearing it to a business meeting or a job interview. The purpose of this graphic design was to display other items of clothing you can pair up with a blazer in a more casual way.

This is a draft, so I do want to play around more with the layout and the images. Also, the photos used have not been edited or adjusted yet, so I do want to do that as well for my final.
Technical Detail
I created the photo elements of my project with the help of Michael Tran, who took all the photos of me. I also used the brush tool in Photoshop to create the illustration of a blazer. The process for construction my project was to create a simple look using photos and text and a plain white background.
The images below will be used for my Graphic Design Project. As of right now, these images are outfits laid flat on the ground, but I will be putting them on and getting better photos of these outfits for my final project. The first picture of the blazer will be used as a cutout in my project.
What my intentions are with these photos is to create a graphic design that shares “3 ways to style a blazer”, with the purpose of it being that it’s helpful to own pieces of clothing that can be worn as multiple styles.
Also, shoes will be included (but not pictured below).
I wanted to quickly introduce myself – I’m Hannah, and I absolutely LOVE clothes.
Putting together outfits is both stressful and exciting. I want to share some inspiration and styles with you all through this blog. I also want to share ways you can be sustainable, and not go excessively over budget with “fast-fashion” trendy items that you probably can only wear once or twice before it goes “out-of-style”, then tossed it to the back of your closet. Because that has to be relatable at one point in life.
Remember that one piece of clothing you purchased at that one store that one time… that you remember so vividly looking amazing on you, and you thought “this is it!”, then you wear it out maybe once or twice and realize you can’t match it with your other clothes, but you also can’t wear it again because you don’t want to wear the same thing over and over, and then as time passes it’s no longer “cool” and “trendy”, so now you definitely can’t wear it, and now it just sits in your closet… yeah… that is exactly what I am talking about.
I recently got back from travelling to South Korea and did lots of shopping there. My shopping experience there was probably the best shopping I had ever done, and having everything suit my style perfectly. This leads me to introduce three of my favorite fashion influencers, who all have very different styles!
Ashley is someone who I more recently came across on YouTube. She is a recent college graduate from UCLA studying film, who lives in another state across the country from her hometown. This means that she needed to stay on a budget with her big love of clothes and fashion. She quickly became someone who inspired me to stop purchasing “fast-fashion” items. She is an influencer in sustainable brands like Reformation, but also stresses the fact that you don’t need to be spending over hundreds of dollars on one article of clothing.
Her main goal is to be trendy but sustainable. Her overall fashion style is very vintage inspired. She does thrift hauls on YouTube from local thrift stores, and produces quality aesthetic content using her film school skills. She does a lot of step-by-step thrift flips, and has her own website where she purchases and alters thrifted items and sells them.
Angel is a YouTuber who does focuses on Korean beauty and fashion. She also vlogs with her beautiful family and two kids. Her style is more on the classy side, and inspired by business casual looks. I admire her style the most, as it fits with how I normally feel the most comfortable going out in.
She is currently living in South Korea again, and does a lot of beauty and fashion hauls from Korean brands. She also incorporates hauls of clothes she bought for her kids as well.
She also runs a blog more related to fashion and clothes, where she posts outfits and pieces of clothing that she loves and talks about them.
She runs a Korean clothing brand of her own with the name “Mejiwoo”. She inspires me with a more casual everyday look style and affordable clothes. Although she doesn’t have a YouTube channel or a blog, she does often livestreams where she will answer questions and talk about her clothing line.
